The history of the bonnet

The bonnet has been used for centuries in African countries, among other things, to protect hair from sun and dust. During slavery, the bonnet not only had a functional role but also reflected a person's status and background.

The bonnet is a cultural symbol in various communities. Within Afro-American history, the bonnet symbolizes care, connection, and strength. For many women, wearing a bonnet is not only a way to keep their hair healthy but also an expression of pride in their natural beauty and culture.

Today, more and more people wear a bonnet to protect their hair from breakage, tangles, and frizz. Bonnets are often made from satin-woven polyester, which means not all benefits are optimally utilized. Mulberry silk has many benefits for hair and is considered one of the finest fabrics. That's why we have a bonnet in our assortment made from 100% mulberry silk.

We are familiar with the history and share this story here so that the cultural history of the bonnet is not lost.
